Lettuce Vishivanka

Vyshyvanka Lettuce: A Local Standard from the Mayak Research Station

The «Vyshyvanka» lettuce is a product of the Ukrainian breeding school, developed by specialists at the Mayak Research Station (Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing under the NAAS). This variety has secured a niche position in the domestic market, specifically targeting producers who prioritize a combination of recognizable market appearance and high turnover speed during the early spring growing cycle.

Agronomic Features and Visual Appeal

The key characteristic that distinguishes this variety is its rich, intensely red leaf coloration. Even under short daylight hours and low temperatures characteristic of early maturity cycles, «Vyshyvanka» consistently develops deep pigmentation, which is crucial for sales in fresh produce markets and the "mix" salad packaging segment.

• Type: Early-maturing variety, adapted to Ukrainian climatic conditions.
• Structure: Forms a dense, compact medium-sized rosette.
• Application: Professional cultivation in both open fields and protected environments.

Choosing this variety is a strategic move for farms working with local retail chains. The stable habit of the rosette simplifies harvesting and post-harvest handling, effectively minimizing losses during sorting and packaging. «Vyshyvanka» offers predictable growth dynamics, enabling agronomists to precisely schedule supply chains during the critical early vegetable production season.
