Lettuce Gylona

Efficiency and Reliability: The Advantages of Gilona Lettuce

For growers focusing on professional lettuce production, the Gilona hybrid from the Dutch breeder Enza Limited offers a precise answer to the challenges of early-season cultivation. As a Batavia-type variety, it sits in a unique position: it provides the speed required for efficient crop rotation while maintaining the structural integrity and aesthetic appeal that end consumers demand.

Why Gilona stands out in the professional market

• Advanced Genetic Resistance: In modern agriculture, chemical dependence is a cost. Gilona's inherent resistance to Lettuce Downy Mildew (Bremia lactucae) and Lettuce Mosaic Virus (LMV) significantly reduces the need for constant phytosanitary intervention, ensuring a cleaner and more profitable harvest.
• Batavia Characteristics: The plant develops a robust, voluminous rosette with a distinctive blistered leaf structure. The bright green, crisp leaves hold up well during harvesting and transport, distinguishing the final product from softer, less stable varieties on the market.
• Optimized Growth Cycles: Being an early-maturing hybrid, Gilona allows for tight scheduling, enabling growers to maximize land utilization and tap into early-market price peaks without risking the crop health common in less resilient early varieties.
