Description Moonred
Moonred lettuce is an early leaf lettuce variety of the Romaine type, a Dutch selection by the company Enza Zaden, intended for cultivation in open ground and greenhouses using seedling methods. This variety is suitable for year-round cultivation and organic farming, maturing in approximately 40-45 days after germination. The plant is compact with a well-developed root system, ensuring its resilience to sudden temperature fluctuations and adverse conditions.

The Moonred lettuce leaves form a dense rosette 18-20 cm high and weighing about 150-180 grams. They feature a shiny red color with a yellow-green center, crisp, juicy, and very tasty, without bitterness. The variety is resistant to diseases such as lettuce mosaic virus and downy mildew, and is also resistant to bolting, which enhances the quality and market appearance of the harvest.

The harvest can be collected mechanically, simplifying the harvesting process and enabling efficient packaging, transportation, and marketing of fresh produce. For cultivation, seeds should be sown no deeper than 1 cm, followed by transplanting and maintaining optimal spacing between plants and rows. Main care includes timely watering, soil loosening, weed removal, and fertilization, performed approximately once a month. Moonred lettuce is ideal for both culinary use and processing.
