Lettuce Jully

Aesthetics and Productivity: The Potential of the Julie Lettuce

The Turkish breeding house Yuksel Tohum A.S. has introduced the Julie lettuce variety, which stands out among competitors for its unique visual profile. It is not just another green for a salad mix, but a vibrant focal point that combines deep shades of intense red with rich green tones. This color palette allows farmers to create attractive produce that instantly stands out on supermarket shelves.

Agronomic Advantages

The main challenge for lettuce growers is high vulnerability to fungal and viral diseases. Julie successfully mitigates these risks through genetic resistance to the most aggressive pathogens:

• Downy mildew (Bremia lactucae) — a key factor in protecting the harvest.
• Lettuce mosaic virus (LMV) — prevents leaf deformation and loss of marketability.
• Powdery mildew — reduces the need for chemical fungicide treatments.

Who is this hybrid for?

The early maturity of Julie makes it an optimal choice for continuous production systems. The plant forms a neat, uniform medium-sized rosette, which is convenient for packaging and logistics. The variety is oriented towards growers specializing in the "fresh market" segment and restaurant supplies, where the visual appearance of the product is just as critical as its flavor profile.

The strength of the variety lies in its balance: it is robust enough for intensive farming while maintaining a premium look. Like most leafy greens, it requires consistent watering to reach its full potential, but under correct agronomic practices, Julie demonstrates consistently high yields.
