Lettuce DUBAGOLD

Technological features of Dubagold lettuce

Czech breeding by Semo demonstrates a systemic approach to solving lettuce crop protection issues. Dubagold is a classic 'oak-leaf' type lettuce, where leaf morphology plays a key role in marketability. The main advantage of this variety is its genetic resistance to critical pathogens, which allows for reduced fungicide usage in both greenhouse and open-field conditions.

Biological protection as the basis for yield

Semo breeders have engineered this variety with resistance to the most aggressive threats:

• Downy mildew (Bremia lactucae): the variety is resistant to a wide range of pathogen races, preventing chlorotic spots and necrosis, thus maintaining the rosette's market appearance.
• Lettuce mosaic virus (LMV): genetic protection eliminates leaf deformation and growth stunting, common in infected crops.

This makes Dubagold predictable in production: the lack of need for aggressive chemical treatment shortens pre-harvest intervals and increases the product's environmental safety.

Agronomic indicators and rosette potential

The light green color and medium weight of the rosette make this variety an optimal choice for 'mixed salads' and fresh market sales. The medium maturity timeframe allows for flexible planning of delivery schedules. The 'oak-leaf' shape provides good rosette volume while maintaining a compact root system, which is crucial for high-density planting in hydroponic systems or field beds.

The practical value of this choice lies in the combination of leaf aesthetics and high survival rates. You get stable, medium-weight produce that retains marketability under stress from temperature fluctuations, thanks to the plant's balanced metabolism.
