Lettuce Fortunas RZ

Consistency in Professional Lettuce Production

Working with the 'Fortunas RZ' variety from Rijk Zwaan feels like insurance for the season. In large-scale operations, predictability is everything, and this Iceberg type delivers exactly that. The deep dark green color remains vibrant through the supply chain, while the head density is robust enough to withstand mechanical handling during harvest and packaging.

Key Operational Advantages

• Strong Disease Resistance: The genetic resistance to Downy Mildew is a game-changer. It prevents the rapid spread of infection in humid conditions, protecting the marketable yield.
• Pest Management Efficiency: By offering high resistance to aphids, this variety reduces the necessity for frequent insecticide sprays, optimizing labor and chemical costs.
• Uniformity: For the field crew, consistency is vital. 'Fortunas RZ' matures uniformly, making the harvesting process faster and significantly reducing post-harvest waste.

Dutch genetics clearly shine through in the performance of this hybrid. Even during minor temperature fluctuations throughout the growing cycle, the plants maintain their structure without premature bolting. It is a low-maintenance, high-output solution for any farmer aiming for premium Iceberg quality without the need for constant experimental adjustments.
