Lettuce Aficion RZ

The Dutch Gold Standard in the Batavia Segment

The «Aficion RZ» lettuce by Rijk Zwaan has long been a benchmark for professional vegetable growers aiming for consistently high results. As a Batavia-type variety, this lettuce combines a tender, crunchy texture with impressive plasticity, making it a favorite for both greenhouse production and open-field cultivation.

Agronomic Potential and Resistance

The key advantage of this hybrid is its balanced genetic defense. In modern intensive farming conditions, the risk of crop loss due to pathogens is significant; however, «Aficion RZ» demonstrates strong resistance to:

• Cladosporium (leaf spot);
• Powdery mildew;
• Cucumber mosaic virus.

These features help reduce the number of fungicide treatments, which is critical for producing high-quality crops that meet modern ecological standards. The light green color of the leaves and their dense, voluminous head make the product visually appealing for retail chains and fresh produce markets.

Market Reputation

Rijk Zwaan has engineered a product that is forgiving for beginners while rewarding professionals with a stable market appearance. Its adaptability to various light conditions and soil types allows for the cultivation of «Aficion RZ» throughout almost the entire season. By choosing this hybrid, growers receive more than just seeds; they gain a technological solution that minimizes risks and guarantees a predictable yield with excellent flavor profiles.
