Lettuce Constance RZ

Premium Segment Standard: Konstanz RZ Lettuce

In the world of professional vegetable production, the Konstanz RZ variety from the Dutch breeding company Rijk Zwaan has long been synonymous with predictable results. This Lollo Rossa type lettuce holds a strong market position due to its ability to maintain an iconic appearance even under stressful growing conditions.

Agronomic Advantages

The key feature of Konstanz RZ is its deep, intense red color. Unlike many competitors, its pigmentation intensity remains stable, which is critical for creating an attractive commercial look for supermarkets and the HoReCa segment. The plant possesses a powerful immune system, reducing the need for aggressive fungicide application:

• High resistance to Downy Mildew (Bremia lactucae).
• Effective defense against Powdery Mildew.

Rijk Zwaan breeders focused on a balanced rosette architecture. Konstanz RZ demonstrates excellent filling and density, which minimizes losses during transport and simplifies the packaging process. Thanks to its genetics, the hybrid is adapted to various light conditions, maintaining leaf quality even when lighting intensity changes.

Market Reputation

For farms, choosing Konstanz RZ is a risk mitigation strategy. The stability of this variety allows for precise harvest planning. Dutch breeding here guarantees not only visual appeal but also excellent taste without distinct bitterness, making the lettuce highly sought after by end consumers. Today, it stands as one of the most balanced solutions for the red Lollo Rossa segment, combining disease resistance with a vibrancy that is difficult to replicate in similar varieties.
