Lettuce Fiorette RZ

Technological Advantages of the Iceberg Hybrid by Rijk Zwaan

The breeding program of Rijk Zwaan in the Iceberg lettuce segment focuses on maximizing marketable yield while maintaining consistent head structure. The "Fiorette RZ" model represents a precise technical solution for professional farms, where uniformity of maturation and pathogen resistance are critical.

Biological Defense and Resistance

The core of "Fiorette RZ" genetic defense is its comprehensive resistance to lettuce downy mildew (Bremia lactucae). In intensive vegetable production, this "immune framework" significantly reduces the need for fungicide applications, cutting operational costs while ensuring the environmental safety of the crop. The plant possesses a balanced root system, facilitating efficient nutrient and moisture uptake even under thermal stress.

Agronomic Characteristics

• Head Type: Classic Iceberg with a dense structure, ensuring excellent durability for transport.
• Development: The plant features vigorous early growth, effectively shortening the cycle from transplanting to technical maturity.
• Crop Standardization: The hybrid forms uniform, firm heads that maintain marketability during storage and long-distance shipping.

Choosing "Fiorette RZ" is highly justified in regions with high humidity, where the risk of foliar infections is significant. Through Rijk Zwaan's breeding expertise, the farmer receives a predictable outcome with a high percentage of yield per square meter.
