Lettuce EVIONAS

Stable Iceberg harvests without unnecessary risk

The «Evionas» lettuce variety from Rijk Zwaan is a tool for farmers who prioritize marketability and predictable results. When selecting seeds for Iceberg production, it is vital to consider the field's phytosanitary situation, and this is where «Evionas» excels, providing critical resistance to downy mildew (Bremia lactucae). This feature reduces fungicide dependency and minimizes losses during high-humidity growing cycles.

Field Performance and Agrotechnics

• Head Uniformity: The hybrid forms dense, compact heads of medium weight that perform exceptionally well during mechanical harvesting. Sizing standardization significantly simplifies the post-harvest sorting and packing process.
• Quality Control: Dutch breeding from Rijk Zwaan ensures high plant plasticity. «Evionas» adapts successfully to inter-seasonal temperature fluctuations, maintaining leaf structure and commercial luster.
• Logistics Potential: The dense head structure makes it suitable for long-distance transportation. It retains turgor for an extended period, which is crucial for retail supply chains where freshness requirements are stringent.

Practical application of «Evionas» is ideal for operations focused on professional retail. Thanks to its high disease resistance, the risk of harvesting spotted lettuce that fails quality control is reduced to a minimum. This is the optimal choice if you value a predictable, high-quality yield per hectare.
