Smooth brome Kvant

Long-term Feed Reliability

The 'Kvant' smooth brome grass variety, developed by RosNIIPTI SK and the Saratov State University, is a robust solution for livestock farms focusing on long-term productivity. In an era of volatile agricultural conditions, the longevity of forage stands is a critical metric for profitability. With a lifespan of 8–10 years, 'Kvant' serves as a strategic investment in the farm's crop rotation cycle.

Agronomic Profile and Productivity

Designed primarily for hay and green fodder production, the variety reaches a height of 80–120 cm, offering excellent foliage density. Key performance metrics include:

• Crude protein content: 12–16%, ensuring high nutritional value for livestock rations.
• Hay yield: 5–8 tons/hectare, providing consistent harvests under various management styles.
• Disease Resistance: High resistance to wheat leaf rust (brown rust), minimizing harvest losses during susceptible periods.

Why choose 'Kvant'?

This variety is an optimal choice for producers needing sustainable pasture establishment or hayfields with extended service life. The adaptability built into the 'Kvant' genetics by the RosNIIPTI SK breeding team allows for stable results even in challenging farming regions. By maintaining a high protein concentration in the forage, it helps reduce reliance on expensive concentrated feed additives, directly impacting the bottom line of dairy and beef operations.

Unlike annual forage crops that require frequent replanting, this brome variety provides excellent soil cover, helping to mitigate soil erosion and reducing annual fuel and labor expenses associated with tillage and seeding.
