Krasula is a hardy evergreen succulent with fleshy leaves forming characteristic four-rowed rosettes. The leaves have a lime-green hue with red tips; under bright sunlight, they can change color to vivid yellow, orange, red, and crimson tones. The plant grows as branching stems that easily root in the nodes, creating a dense mat-like structure.
Beautiful foliage makes it popular as a decorative plant for rockeries, landscape gardens, and indoor containers. It looks great in shade, where leaves retain rich green color year-round, but under direct sunlight it reveals its full palette of colors. Flowering occurs in summer or autumn: sparse spike-like inflorescences of small white star-shaped flowers appear for short periods.
Care for Krasula is simple and does not require special effort. The plant needs a bright, sunny, or slightly semi-shaded spot; growth slows down in insufficient light. Watering should be done every 5–10 days in summer when the topsoil dries out, and once or twice a month in autumn and winter. Soil should be well-drained, sandy, with an acidic or neutral reaction. During the growing season, the temperature should be around +20–25 °C, and during dormancy – +14–18 °C; the plant is drought-resistant, so it is better to under-water than over-water. Reproduction is possible through seeds, bush division, and cuttings, and after flowering, dead rosettes are pruned to maintain shape.
