Koestretz is a perennial grass grown for hay and green mass production. Its dense shoots contain numerous microelements and vitamins, making the feed very nutritious for livestock.
The crop features a well-developed fibrous root system capable of reaching depths over 2 meters. Thanks to this, the plant has high drought-tolerant properties and is not demanding regarding climate and soil. It copes excellently even with severe winter frosts, making it suitable for cultivation in various regions.
For hay harvest, it is important to avoid flowering, as this causes the grass to toughen. Koestretz can provide two full cuts and reach a yield of up to 100 kg/hay/ha. When used on pastures, the plant withstands up to 5 full grazing cycles. The recommended sowing rate is 180–200 g per 100 m² (100 ares).
