The hairless brome "Vegur" variety is a mid-season plant with a height of 125 to 165 cm, featuring an upright bush of medium density and strong tillering. The leaves are dark green, linear-lanceolate in shape, 30–40 cm long, while the inflorescence is a drooping panicle up to 25 cm. The seeds are lanceolate in shape and brown in color. The bush is characterized by light brown nodes and a fluctuation amplitude of internodes in the range of 4–5.
The yield of "Vegur" varies by region: in central areas it reaches 50.5 c/ha of dry matter, in the Volga-Vyatka region – 58.0 c/ha, and in the North Caucasus – 36.8 c/ha. At a sowing rate of 18 kg/ha, the plant provides an average green mass of 350–365 c/ha over three years of pasture use and hay of 95–105 c/ha. Seeds yield 4–6 c/ha. The vegetative period lasts from the beginning of spring regrowth to the first mowing – 55–60 days, and to full seed maturity – 100–110 days.
The "Vegur" variety is distinguished by high drought resistance and moderate resistance to helminthosporiosis and rust. It is suitable for cultivation in a wide range of climatic zones, including the North-Western, Central, Volga-Vyatka, Central Black Earth, North Caucasian, Western Siberian, and Far Eastern regions. Due to the good tillering density and disease resistance, "Vegur" is a reliable choice for the production of forage grass and hay.
