Smooth brome Zabava

Practical experience growing 'Zabava' brome grass

The 'Zabava' awnless brome is a choice for those accustomed to working with predictable materials.

Operation and maintenance

In field conditions, 'Zabava' acts as a workhorse. Key aspects you will encounter when managing these crops:

• Regrowth rate: After the first mowing, the stand recovers dynamically. This allows for scheduled harvesting without the fear of ending up with 'bald' patches by the end of the season.
• Drought resistance: The variety shows endurance during hot periods. The root system penetrates deeply, reducing the need for emergency irrigation.
• Feed value: The leaf mass is abundant, which significantly simplifies the pressing and drying process. The leaf-to-stem ratio is higher than average, which directly affects the nutritional value of the hay.

Crop durability and self-repair

Zabava has excellent turf density. If patches appear in the field due to overgrazing or machinery, the brome grass quickly covers them through active tillering. You won't have to spend your budget on reseeding or undersowing patches—the variety self-regulates. In terms of fodder harvesting, this brome does not require special mower modifications: it lies evenly in the swath, ensuring stable equipment operation without clogging the cutting components.

Choosing this variety is an investment in a perennial crop that requires no annual renewal or complex, specialized support.
