Smakotunya — an early-to-medium ripening grape variety, distinguished by high yield and excellent taste qualities. In the Kyiv region, berry coloring begins between July 20–25, ripening starts on August 20, and full maturity occurs in early September. Bunches are large, medium-dense, weighing 600–1200 grams, sometimes reaching 1.5–2 kg. Berries are medium-sized, uniform, round, black in color with a distinct waxy bloom (pruin). The flesh is firm and crisp, with a harmonious flavor featuring a distinctive fruity note upon full ripening. The variety exhibits strong vine growth, reaching full maturity along the entire shoot length. Plants bear bisexual flowers, ensuring good pollination and preventing berry drop. A key feature is the variety’s ability to handle heavy fruit loads, enabling stable and high-quality bunches with proper pruning. On average, 2–3 bunches form per shoot, contributing to high yields. Smakotunya demonstrates increased resistance to diseases and cold, making it suitable for cultivation without winter protection. Cold hardiness reaches approximately -25°C. Resistance to mildew and oidium is moderate, requiring adherence to agronomic practices to maintain plant health. Additionally, berries of this variety store well for up to two months, expanding their usability and market potential.
