Smena

The grape variety 'Smena' is the result of selection and crossing of the varieties 'Decorative' and 'SV 20-365', developed at the Ukrainian Research Institute of Viticulture and Enology named after V.E. Tairov. This variety belongs to the medium ripening period with a vegetation period of about 130-140 days. The vines are vigorous, with high yield and stable fruiting. Bunches are large and very large, weighing from 300 to 700 grams, sometimes reaching over 1.5 kg, branched and moderately loose. Berries are large, oval-shaped, weighing 5-6 grams, light green in color with a firm, edible skin. The flesh is fleshy, juicy, with a simple taste, sugar content of 16-18%, acidity 5-7 g/l.

The 'Smena' variety is characterized by good transportability and marketability, allowing the harvest to be retained on the vines for a long time and stored for up to three months. The cane ripens well, and rooting of cuttings is high. Recommended pruning of fruiting shoots to 8-12 buds at a load of 40-50 shoots per plant. The variety responds well to high levels of agronomy and is compatible with most rootstocks, making it convenient to grow under various conditions.

'Smena' has high resistance to fungal diseases such as gray mold, mildew, and oidium. The variety's cold tolerance is above average, around -22...-23 °C, allowing it to be grown in regions with moderately cold climates, including the North Caucasus region. Due to its characteristics, the variety is suitable for both experienced and novice grape growers, ensuring a stable and high-quality table grape harvest.
