The Magarach Firstborn grape variety belongs to medium-late varieties with a production period of 140-145 days, ripening in the second half of September. The bunches are of medium size, cylindrical-conical in shape, and of medium density, weighing about 170 grams. The berries are oval, white in color, with an average mass of 1.8 grams, with firm and elastic skin. The pulp is juicy and spreading, possessing a pleasant and harmonious taste. The sugar content of the berry juice is 20-22%, with an acidity of 6-8 g/L, which ensures high quality of the wine material.
The bushes of the variety are characterized by strong growth, upright shoots, and lace-like crown. The ripening of shoots is good, reaching 80-90%, which contributes to high yield — 110-130 centners per hectare. The load on the bush is 40-45 buds, with recommended pruning to 4-6 buds. The fruiting coefficient is 1.5. The variety has good affinity with common rootstock varieties, which facilitates its use in viticulture.
The frost resistance of the variety is average and ranges from -22 to -25°C. Magarach Firstborn can be cultivated in semi-cover culture. It is characterized by high resistance to downy mildew (2.5-3.0 points) and moderate resistance to gray rot (2.0-3.0 points), as well as tolerance to phylloxera. In epiphytotic years, it is recommended to conduct 2-3 preventive sprays to protect against downy mildew and powdery mildew. The grape is used for the production of white table and dessert wines, which are characterized by amber color, clean bouquet, and soft harmonious taste with piquant freshness.
