Description SIBIRYAK POTAPENKO
The grape variety 'Sibiryak Potapenko' was bred by the breeder Eugene Piskunov from Khakassia and included in the State Register for the East Siberian region. This variety belongs to the medium maturity period and is intended for both technical and table use, allowing it to be used for winemaking as well as fresh consumption. The bushes are medium-sized with medium-sized leaves and weak leaf dissection, while the flowers are hermaphroditic. Bunches are medium-sized, winged, weighing about 220 grams, with small, round, blue-black berries that are juicy with a characteristic variety flavor. The berry juice is colorless, while the pulp has a pink juice color. The berries contain 28.6% dry matter, 18.6 g of sugar per 100 cm3, and 0.7 g/dm3 acidity, which provides a pleasant taste and a high tasting score of 3.8 points.

One of the key features of the variety is its high frost resistance, allowing it to withstand temperatures down to -40 °C, which makes 'Sibiryak Potapenko' particularly valuable for growing in the harsh climatic conditions of Siberia and other northern regions. Additionally, the variety is resistant to pests and diseases, which reduces the need for chemical protection and eases vineyard care. The average yield of the variety is about 26 centners per hectare, indicating its good productivity.

The variety name refers to the well-known Soviet breeders, the Potapenko brothers, who made a significant contribution to the development of viticulture in northern regions, and the new variety was created based on their developments. 'Sibiryak Potapenko' represents a modern frost-resistant grape variety adapted to the conditions of East Siberia, making it a promising choice for vintners seeking a quality harvest in complex climatic conditions.
