Viorica grape variety is a medium-late variety of Moldovan selection with a ripening period of about 145-150 days. Bushes are vigorous, with good shoot ripening, which withstands frosts down to -25°C, and frost-damaged plants recover well. Leaves are round, five-lobed, strongly dissected, with a net-crepe surface and a hairless underside. Bunches are cylindrical-conical in shape of medium density, weighing 250-300 grams, and berries are round, white or yellowish-amber in color, weighing about 2-3 grams, with dense skin and juicy flesh.
The taste of berries is distinguished by a light muscat aroma, sugar content reaches 18-20%, at acidity of 7-9 g/l. The variety is characterized by high yield - up to 90-100 centners per hectare, which is about 10 tons. Viorica is distinguished by resistance to main fungal diseases, such as downy mildew, powdery mildew, anthracnose and gray rot, which allows to be limited to only two treatments with pesticides per season. The variety is suitable for cultivation on a high trunk up to 1 meter in height, with a load of 45-50 buds per bush and pruning to 4-8 buds.
The main application of Viorica grape is the production of white table wines with refreshing taste and pleasant muscat nuance. Thanks to its unpretentiousness in care, frost resistance and disease resistance, this variety is popular among viticulturists and winemakers, providing a stable and quality harvest.
