Description URGU
"Meadow Fescue" (Poa pratensis L.) is a creeping perennial grass developed at Ural State University named after A.M. Gorky using mass selection from wild populations followed by re-selection in a nursery during the ecological study of ecotypes.

The variety has narrow (up to 3 mm wide) dark green, soft leaves, almost hairless. It exhibits high winter hardiness and drought resistance, as well as rapid spring growth – shoots grow back quickly within 1–2 weeks after sowing. Thanks to the dense turf and lush green canopy, the grass maintains its decorative appeal for eight years even under frequent mowing.

The variety is resistant to rust, Helminthosporium leaf blight, and powdery mildew, and provides moderate seed yield (≈17 c/ha). It is ideal for lawns, sports fields, industrial greening, and other surfaces requiring high decorative value, trampling resistance, and fast recovery after mowing.
