Dill MONK'S BEARD

Technical Profile: 'Monk's Beard' (Boroda Monakha) Dill

The breeding efforts of Agrofirma Aelita (originators: N.V. Nastenko, V.G. Kachaynik, M.N. Gulkin) have resulted in a specialized leaf-type variety designed for maximum commercial yield. The core feature of 'Monk's Beard' lies in its rosette development physiology: the plant forms an upright, compact habit with high leaf density.

Agrotechnical Advantages

• Rosette Architecture: The vertical orientation of the leaves significantly reduces the risk of fungal infections caused by soil contact and simplifies both mechanical and manual harvesting processes.
• Vegetation Intensity: The variety demonstrates rapid biomass accumulation rates, which is critical for greenhouse and open-field cultivation aimed at continuous production cycles.
• Biochemical Potential: The leaf blade features a rich aroma and an extended harvesting window, resisting premature bolting (stem formation).

Technically, this dill is engineered for intensive farming practices. Its well-developed root system enables efficient nitrogen uptake, directing growth energy toward robust vegetative mass rather than early floral shoot development. To ensure a stable harvest, it is recommended to maintain an optimal seeding density to allow sufficient airflow between rows, which directly impacts the market quality of the greens and prevents rot in the lower foliage canopy.
