Dill Elbrus

Reliable Russian genetics for early herb production

Dill "Elbrus" is a notable development from the N.I. Vavilov All-Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources (VIR). Created by a team of renowned breeders, Zosim Vinogradov and Olga Bondarenko, this variety has established a reputation as a standard for commercial green production in the Russian market.

Optimized for the fresh market

The primary value of Elbrus lies in its specialization for bunch production. With a maturity cycle of 40–45 days, it allows producers to accurately plan their harvest schedule to meet early spring market demand. The variety is characterized by high aromatic potency and a uniform, attractive leaf rosette, which are essential attributes for retail quality standards.

Agronomic performance and market positioning

• Origin: Developed within the Russian breeding system, leveraging the vast genetic heritage of the VIR collection.
• Growth habit: The variety shows excellent consistency, which is vital for commercial growers looking to avoid inconsistent development cycles.
• Versatility: Ideally suited for both open field cultivation and protected structures like film tunnels, providing a reliable early season crop.

What sets Elbrus apart is its delayed bolting characteristic. It maintains marketability in the field significantly longer than many generic alternatives, providing growers with a crucial buffer window to harvest their crop. This balance of reliability and yield makes it a preferred choice for those focusing on predictable, high-margin fresh herb operations.
