Carrot Liana

Reliable harvest for long-term storage

The «Liana» carrot variety, offered by Ooo Agroplaneta, is a professional-grade choice for growers prioritizing shelf life and marketability. As a Flakkee-type carrot, it is not merely a "fresh market" snack, but a robust crop designed for winter and spring supply chains.

Cultivation insights

The 130–140 day maturity cycle requires patience. Based on agronomic feedback, uniform soil moisture is the key factor. When managed correctly, the roots reach impressive dimensions (25–30 cm) while maintaining excellent uniformity and a smooth, cylindrical shape. With weights ranging from 80 to 200 grams, the produce is highly efficient for sorting and packaging lines.

Field performance and utility

• Bunching market: Due to early root formation, «Liana» can be harvested selectively for bunching, yielding vibrant, juicy carrots with a deep orange hue.
• Storage capacity: Its dense internal structure and professional German breeding (originated by Satimex Quedlinburg, Hartmut Klein) provide high resistance to decay during storage. The roots retain their texture and color even after months in cold storage.

For operators, harvesting this variety is straightforward: the consistent shape and length allow for mechanical harvesting with minimal loss. Given its breeding background, the variety is forgiving regarding minor maintenance errors, though it does require deep, well-tilled soil to allow the cylindrical roots to develop their full length without deformation.
