The Moscow Winter carrot variety is a mid-to-late maturing type of Shantane, ripening 110-120 days after seedlings emerge. The root crops have a conical shape with a blunt end, measuring 11 to 18 cm in length and weighing 100 to 170 g. Their surface and flesh are colored a rich orange-red. The variety is distinguished by high sugar content up to 8% and carotene content up to 12%, ensuring excellent taste qualities and nutritional value.
For successful cultivation, it is recommended to choose well-lit areas with fertile, loose loamy soils, cleared of weeds. The optimal sowing time is early May, into warm soil. The variety responds well to regular moderate watering and thinning of seedlings, and does not require additional pest control due to its resistance to bolting and bacterial diseases. Seeds have good germination up to 80%, and yield with proper agrotechnology can reach 7-8 kg per square meter.
The Moscow Winter carrot is suitable for fresh consumption and stores well in cool conditions, retaining its taste and market appearance throughout the winter. Thanks to its high storage capability and resistance to cracking, this variety is a reliable choice for long-term storage and use in various culinary purposes.
