Carrot CHANTANE 5

A Reliable Standard in Carrot Cultivation

The «Shantane 5» carrot variety, developed by the Russian company «Sedek» (in collaboration with SDK-SIDS), represents a classic standard within the Shantane category. It has established a strong market presence as a versatile, dependable variety suitable for both small-scale gardening and commercial farming operations that prioritize consistent yields.

Technical Specifications and Market Utility

One of the primary benefits of «Shantane 5» is its flexibility in harvesting cycles. Depending on the intended market segment, the variety can be harvested as early as 70–80 days for fresh bunching sales. For those looking for long-term storage or processing potential, the full maturation period ranges between 120 and 130 days.

Key performance characteristics include:

• Root Shape: A distinct conical shape, which is a hallmark of the Shantane type, making it highly compatible with mechanical harvesting equipment.
• Dimensions: A consistent length of 15–20 cm, ideal for retail packaging and commercial processing lines.
• Quality: A vibrant orange color and dense structure that withstands processing cycles, including juicing and freezing.

The variety is highly regarded for its resistance to cracking and its adaptability to various soil types. This level of durability ensures that farmers can achieve high marketable yields with minimal waste, even in challenging growing seasons.
