Carrot Cascade F1 is a medium-maturing hybrid of the Shantane type, developed by the Dutch breeding company Bejo Zaden. This hybrid is characterized by high seed germination — up to 95% — and adaptability to growing conditions, allowing successful cultivation in all climatic regions of Ukraine. The maturation period varies from 100 to 135 days depending on weather conditions. It is recommended to sow carrots in warmed, light, and low-acidity soils with regular watering, thinning, and fertilization, especially phosphorus-potassium fertilizers. For early harvest, sowing can be done in winter, and for long-term storage — in the second half of spring. The planting rate is 0.8 to 1.0 million seeds per hectare.
The roots of Cascade F1 have conical or cylindrical shapes with pointed or blunt ends, measuring 12 to 20 cm in length and 4-6 cm in diameter. Fruit weight ranges from 120 to 250 grams. They feature a smooth, even surface without ridges or green edges at the base of the leaves. The flesh is bright orange, juicy, sweet, and firm, with high sugar content (8-8.3%) and carotene (about 11 mg), as well as beneficial microelements and vitamins. The core is small, enhancing flavor and making this carrot particularly suitable for juice production and children’s nutrition.
The Cascade F1 hybrid exhibits high resistance to diseases, including viral infections, and does not tend to crack or discolor. The foliage is dark green, sturdy, and reaches approximately 40 cm in height. Due to these characteristics, the carrot is well-suited for both industrial cultivation and home gardens. It retains excellent market quality during long-term storage, making this hybrid universally suitable for fresh consumption, canning, and freezing.
