Blueberry BB001

Extending the Berry Season: The BB001 Variety

For commercial growers looking to extend their harvest window, the BB001 blueberry variety from Frutek offers a strategic advantage. With a late maturity cycle (80–100 days), this variety allows farms to capture late-season market demand, supplying high-quality berries when most early-ripening varieties have already finished production.

Practical Field Management

Reaching a height of up to 200 cm, these bushes require well-planned trellis systems to support heavy yields and facilitate easy access for harvesters. The most critical operational requirement is maintaining soil pH between 4.0 and 5.5. When optimal acidity is maintained, growers can reliably expect yields ranging from 5 to 7 kg per bush, depending on the intensity of the nutrition program and irrigation management.

Operational Highlights

• Site Selection: Plant in full sun to ensure optimal sugar accumulation and characteristic blue color, which are essential for market-grade fruits.
• Bloom Timing: Flowering occurs between May and June, requiring growers to monitor for late spring frosts, which could impact the potential harvest.
• Harvesting Strategy: The ability to produce up to 7 kg of fruit per plant makes this variety a high-performance choice, but it requires efficient logistical planning for labor management during the peak harvest phase.

The BB001 variety by Frutek is engineered for professionals who need a reliable, late-season performer that delivers both volume and consistent quality for the fresh market.
