Bentgrass MORSANSKAYA 97

Technical Profile of Agrostis «MORSHANSKAYA 97»

Developed by the specialists at the Morshansk Breeding Station, the «MORSHANSKAYA 97» bentgrass variety is a breeding achievement focused on professional turf establishment. The core design objective was adapting the plant to environmental stressors, which defines its operational performance.

Biological Solutions and Resistance

A key engineering advantage of this variety is its high resistance to powdery mildew. In dense turf conditions, where air circulation is often restricted, this trait eliminates the risk of fungal outbreaks, preserving the aesthetic integrity of the surface. The genetic potential established by authors S.I. Kostenko and E.T. Babkina provides:

• Development of dense, wear-resistant sod capable of withstanding moderate recreational traffic.
• Stable vegetation throughout the season, which is critical for decorative landscaping.
• Adaptability to various soil types, confirmed by years of testing at the V.R. Williams All-Russian Fodder Research Institute.

Practical Application in Landscape Engineering

Due to its morphological characteristics, «MORSHANSKAYA 97» produces a uniform stand with pronounced tillering. This makes the variety an optimal component for specialized lawn seed mixtures. From a technical standpoint, choosing this bentgrass allows for minimizing fungicide application costs, a significant factor when maintaining large-scale objects such as park zones or professional lawn facilities.
