Bentgrass Chara

A Benchmark in Domestic Turf Grass

The creeping bentgrass variety 'Chara', developed by the Williams FRC V.R. Williams, is a professional-grade solution for landscaping in challenging climatic conditions. Unlike many imported alternatives, 'Chara' is specifically adapted to domestic soil and weather patterns, offering stability where delicate European varieties often fail or require excessive maintenance.

Technical Profile and Performance

As a perennial low-growing grass, 'Chara' is designed to create a dense, intensely colored turf. Its primary strength lies in its vegetative reproduction via stolons, which allows the lawn to recover quickly from mechanical damage and maintain a consistent, thick appearance.

• Life Cycle: A hardy perennial with strong vegetative growth habits.
• Usage: Ideal for high-end residential lawns and professional landscape design projects.
• Performance: Produces a fine, velvety texture that withstands low mowing heights exceptionally well.

The variety's reputation is built on its robust survival instincts. The breeders prioritized winter hardiness, making it an optimal choice for regions with significant seasonal temperature fluctuations. 'Chara' maintains its aesthetic appeal throughout the entire growing season without requiring intensive chemical protection.

Application and Market Niche

Landscaping professionals choose 'Chara' for projects where visual perfection and dense cover are non-negotiable. It is highly valued for private estates and urban park zones requiring a premium "living carpet" effect. The variety excels in well-irrigated areas, where its natural ability to spread and densify creates a professional, manicured look with minimal long-term effort.
