Lolium perenne 'Chara' is a large type of lawn grass that stands out for its bright green color and delicate appearance throughout the entire growing season. The plant grows predominantly horizontally, forming dense creeping stems with thin leaves that easily root to form small bushes about 10 cm high. Thanks to this structure, the grass creates a soft and fluffy carpet that can be used as a 'lazy' lawn on cottage and park lawns, as well as in rows between fruit trees.
The grass grows quickly and can recover after drought. The plant height usually does not exceed 9–11 cm, making it ideal for creating lawns without frequent mowing. However, periodic watering and fertilizing are required, as well as minimal mowing 3–4 times a year to maintain coverage density and prevent the formation of 'tillers'.
One of the features of this species is its hardiness: even after the grass dries out, it retains the ability to form new shoots. When the bundle is chopped and sown into the soil, the plant quickly 'revives', creating a fresh green cover.
