Bentgrass ZARYA

A reliable solution for high-density turf establishment

The 'Zarya' variety of redtop (Agrostis gigantea), developed by the Federal Scientific Center of Agrobiotechnologies of the Far East named after A.K. Chaika, is engineered for professional landscaping. Unlike standard grass mixtures, this variety excels in adaptability to temperate climates, making it an essential component for establishing durable and long-lasting green cover.

Agronomic performance and field application

Redtop is distinguished by its aggressive root system, which facilitates rapid soil stabilization. Agronomists and landscape professionals rely on 'Zarya' for several primary objectives:

• Recreational lawn establishment: The variety produces a thick, resilient turf capable of withstanding moderate foot traffic in parks and public areas.
• Soil erosion control and reclamation: Due to its vigorous stoloniferous growth, the plant effectively anchors soil on slopes and embankments, preventing nutrient runoff and soil degradation.
• Long-term pasture and ground cover: The variety’s longevity ensures that the turf retains its aesthetic appeal and density for multiple seasons with minimal maintenance requirements.

Given the fine size of the seeds, precision in sowing is critical. Surface sowing followed by light rolling is the recommended practice to ensure optimal soil contact. While 'Zarya' requires adequate moisture during the initial establishment phase, it matures into a robust, dense turf that naturally resists weed encroachment, significantly reducing the need for intensive maintenance.
