Bentgrass SAUZSHOR

Technological Excellence of Jacklin Seed Southshore

Creeping bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera) variety Southshore from the American breeding company Jacklin Seed represents the professional standard for golf green surfaces. The key feature of this cultivar lies in its genetically programmed ability to aggressively spread under extremely low mowing heights. Unlike wild varieties, this selection is focused on creating a dense, elastic "carpet" capable of withstanding the mechanical stress of golf courses and heavy player traffic.

Biological Resistance as a Foundation for Longevity

The engineering of the Southshore variety is focused on neutralizing the primary pathogens that typically destroy turfgrass in high-humidity and high-temperature conditions:

• Fungal Resistance: Southshore genetics exhibit pronounced tolerance to Dollar Spot (Sclerotinia homoeocarpa). This reduces the need for aggressive chemical applications, which is critical for the ecological management of golf courses.
• Resistance to Fusarium: The leaf structure and growth rate are calibrated to minimize the risk of snow mold and Fusarium development during the off-season.
• Protection Against Leaf Spots: Resistance to Helminthosporium leaf spots ensures visual uniformity of the stand throughout the entire growing season, eliminating the appearance of necrotic patches on the playing field.

Practical Application and Maintenance

Southshore is the choice for those prepared for intensive maintenance. As a specialized cultivar, its development requires precise moisture control and a strict fertilization schedule. The high density of the shoots prevents weed seed establishment, making this variety an effective solution for managing unwanted vegetation during the early stages of lawn formation. With the proper approach, owners gain a dense surface with a high ball roll speed, which is a defining quality metric for professional sports.
