Description

The 'Pearl of the Mowow Region' basil variety is an early-maturing plant with an upright habit and high leafiness. The leaves are of medium length, elliptical in shape with small serrations along the edges, while the flowers are pink and arranged in spike-like inflorescences measuring 10-12 cm in length. The plant is distinguished by a rich lavender aroma, caused by a high eugenol content—the main component of essential oil, reaching up to 90% of the composition. This variety grows well both on a windowsill and in a garden bed, is resistant to diseases and pests, making it convenient for cultivation under various conditions. 'Pearl of the Mowow Region' is a universal crop used in cooking, canning, and medicine. Young greens are rich in ascorbic acid, carotene, rutin, and tannins. Basil essential oil is used in perfumery for creating expensive fragrances, in the canning industry as a flavoring and preservative, and in medicine as an analgesic and disinfectant for toothache and otitis. The yield of greens ranges from 3.5 to 9 kg per square meter, allowing for significant raw material production over a short period. Sowing basil seeds is recommended in early May without seedlings, at a sowing rate of 0.5-0.6 g per square meter. The plant tolerates дерново-подзолистые (derno-podzolic) soils well and begins flowering in July, continuing for about a month and a half. The seeds are small, elongated, dark brown, and retain germination for 5-7 years, allowing for multi-year cultivation. Due to its decorative, spicy, and essential oil qualities, the 'Pearl of the Mowow Region' variety is a valuable addition to any garden.
