Basil Granada

Spicy Luxury with a German Pedigree

The «Granada» basil by Greentime is a choice for those who refuse to compromise between garden aesthetics and culinary ambition. Unlike standard varieties, this basil excels in the quality of every single leaf. Its deep purple color and pronounced ruffled texture make it more than just an herb—it is a functional ornamental piece for your garden.

Why Choose «Granada»?

• Intense Aromatics: In contrast to green-leafed varieties, «Granada» boasts a more concentrated spicy aroma that remains potent even after drying or pickling.
• Structural Integrity: The large, ruffled leaf maintains an excellent market appearance after cutting, which is vital for commercial growers.
• Compact Growth: Standing at 30–40 cm tall, it is perfect for both open-field cultivation and container gardening without sacrificing yield.

The main strength of «Granada» is its saturated flavor profile. While common varieties often lean toward a bland, grassy taste, this selection delivers a bold, spicy punch with subtle sweet undertones. The plant is highly responsive to sunlight: the more sun exposure it receives, the more intense the leaf color becomes and the higher the concentration of essential oils.

Who is this basil for?
It is the optimal choice for restaurateurs and foodies who focus on artisan marinades. Due to its structural density, «Granada» leaves do not turn into mush when heat-treated, keeping both their shape and vibrant color in sauces.

Considerations: Like any sun-loving basil, «Granada» requires disciplined watering and a prime, sunny location. In deep shade, you will lose the very depth of color and aroma that professional growers value this variety for.
