Description Libuse
The spring barley variety Libuse is a medium-maturing, low-growing, and short-stemmed brewing barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) with high productive tillering. It exhibits resistance to lodging and powdery mildew, ensuring stable yields. The 1000-grain weight ranges from 45 to 55 grams, and protein content reaches up to 11.1%. The variety is ecologically adaptable and suited for cultivation in various regions, including the Northwestern, Central Chernozem, Volga, West Siberian, and East Siberian regions.

The average yield of the Libuse variety across regions ranges from 37.1 to 52.9 centners per hectare, with a maximum yield of 91.0 centners per hectare recorded in the Oryol region in 2019. Despite its high productivity, the variety is susceptible to net blotch, root rots, and helminthosporiosis, and shows moderate resistance to damage from the Swedish fly, requiring attention during agronomic practices.

Barley Libuse is widely used in the brewing industry due to its quality characteristics. Its grains can also be used in the food industry for producing confectionery items, breakfast cereals, muesli, and ready-to-cook cereals. Due to the absence of fats and oils in its production, the grains retain high quality and are suitable for dietary nutrition, as well as serving as feed for domestic animals and fishing bait.
