Winter barley KWS Fantex is a high-yielding and lodging-resistant variety recommended for cultivation in the Central (3) region, including Smolensk Oblast. This medium-maturing, low-growing barley exhibits high tillering intensity, contributing to good yield — averaging 35.9 c/ha with maximum yields up to 75.0 c/ha. Optimal agronomic parameters include sowing date, seed planting depth of 3–5 cm, and seeding rate of 4–5 million/ha. Protein content in grain is 9–10%, which is a key indicator for food and brewing industries. The variety shows moderate resistance to eyespot and moderate susceptibility to root rots. KWS Fantex is a versatile variety suitable for producing most types of malt. It has the highest FAN level among KWS varieties, making it particularly valuable for the brewing industry. Thanks to improved disease resistance and high brewing grain characteristics, this variety is fully recommended for cultivation aimed at malt production, including by the French brewers' union. Additionally, the variety is suitable for organic farming, expanding its application in eco-friendly agriculture. This barley demonstrates good adaptation to various climatic conditions and ensures stable crop rotation. Besides brewing, the grain of KWS Fantex can be used for flour, bread, and other food products, making it a versatile and in-demand agricultural product. The combination of high agronomic and technological characteristics makes KWS Fantex a reliable choice for farmers and food producers.
