Maize Sumumba

German genetics in the field: the potential of the "Zumumba" hybrid

In the market of intensive corn hybrids, "Zumumba" from Saaten-Union occupies a niche for solutions focused on consistent grain yield. This product combines the long-standing experience of the German breeding school with the technological base of industry giants such as Corteva Agriscience and Dow AgroSciences, which has predetermined its high adaptability to European climatic conditions.

Agronomic characteristics and protection profile

The flint-dent grain type ensures an optimal balance between moisture release rate and thousand-kernel weight. For agronomists working in areas with a high infectious background, "Zumumba" becomes an essential risk-reduction tool. The crop's genetic resistance to a complex of dangerous pathogens allows for minimized fungicide pressure during the growing season:

• High level of resistance to common and loose smut.
• Biological protection against maize fusarium.
• Adaptability to conditions that trigger the development of helminthosporiosis and stalk rot.

Implementation recommendations

The genetic yield potential is fully realized when maintaining a seeding density of 80,000–85,000 plants per hectare. This is the «golden mean» for this hybrid, allowing the plant to develop fully without intraspecific competition, while ensuring a dense and high-quality ear. Due to its specialization in grain production, "Zumumba" demonstrates excellent performance during threshing, making it highly sought after by agricultural producers focused on commercial output with minimal harvest losses.
