The 2025 novelty from the V.Ya. Yuriev Institute of Plant Production (NAAS of Ukraine), the spring barley "IR Yarets," is designed as a versatile tool for stable grain production across all key agro-climatic zones of the country: from the arid Steppe to the humid Polissya. This complex hybrid demonstrates high plasticity, which is critical in the face of unstable climate conditions.

Morphology and Resilience

The plant features a semi-prostrate habit and medium stem height, which, combined with a moderate waxy bloom on the flag leaf, ensures effective thermoregulation. The pyramidal, lax ear with a horizontal orientation allows the crop to optimize solar energy utilization during the grain-filling period. The elliptical shape of the grain with a coarsely wrinkled surface of the lemma indicates a breeding focus on threshing efficiency.
