Barley SU LUCIE

German breeding for modern fields

Winter barley «ZU LUCY» is a complex hybrid from the German company W. von Borries-Eckendorf, officially registered in Ukraine in 2025. Its market introduction addresses the demand for high-tech seed material capable of performing reliably under volatile climatic conditions.

Field performance and adaptability

The key advantage of «ZU LUCY» lies in its plasticity. The hybrid demonstrates high resilience to stress factors typical of the Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissya regions. Due to the genetic potential incorporated by the breeders, the plant effectively withstands drought periods, maintaining ear productivity even during moisture deficits in critical growth phases.

• Heat tolerance: The hybrid shows stable results under high temperatures, which is critical for the southern regions of Ukraine.
• Lodging resistance: The complex hybrid structure ensures stem strength, allowing the crop to withstand heavy rainfall and strong winds without yield loss.
• Phytosanitary profile: The variety possesses significant tolerance to major winter barley pathogens, which helps optimize fungicide application on crops.

The 2025 registration confirms the relevance of this breeding: «ZU LUCY» was developed with modern agricultural challenges in mind, where the focus is not only on total yield but also on grain quality stability in changing weather conditions.
