Cultivation and Agronomic Profile of «Obrii Polisskyi» Barley

«Obrii Polisskyi» is a spring two-row barley variety registered in 2024, developed by the National Scientific Center «Institute of Agriculture of NAAS». It is characterized by high plasticity, making it suitable for cultivation across various climatic zones of Ukraine, including the Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissya regions.

Agronomic Recommendations

• Sowing Timing: To maximize yield potential, sowing should be performed as early as possible in the spring. This allows the crop to utilize winter moisture reserves effectively before the onset of summer heat.
• Seeding Rate: The recommended density is 4.0–4.5 million viable seeds per hectare. This density ensures optimal plant spacing and uniform development of the crop.
• Crop Management: The variety exhibits a medium heading time. It is crucial to monitor the crop during the stem elongation phase and apply fungicides if necessary to protect the flag leaf, which is vital for grain filling.
