Kunlean is a wine grape variety, representing a complex European-Amur hybrid, introduced from Hungary and successfully adapted for growing in various climatic conditions, including southern regions of Russia. The variety belongs to the mid-late ripening period, with berries reaching maturity in mid-September. Bushes are vigorous with well-maturing shoots, which contributes to stable fruiting. Clusters are conical, loose, of medium and large mass around 150 grams, berries are oval, white or green-yellow in color, fleshy and of medium size. Kunlean grape is characterized by a high sugar content of about 21.8-22.7% and titratable acidity within 7-8 g/L, making it ideal for producing high-quality white table and dessert wines with a tasting rating of up to 9.2 points. The berry juice is colorless, and they contain medium seeds. Yield is quite high - about 94 cts/ha. The variety has good frost resistance, withstands temperatures down to -24-25°C, which allows growing it without shelter in suitable regions. However, resistance to diseases such as mildew and grey rot is average, while to oidium it is high, so preventive treatments are recommended. Kunlean was introduced to Russia with the participation of specialists and is an example of successful international cooperation in viticulture. Thanks to its frost resistance and adaptability, the variety is suitable for growing in various climatic zones, expanding its usage possibilities. It is recommended for technical use in winemaking, allowing to produce wines with a bright taste and good structure, making it attractive to grape growers and wine producers.
