Tronka is a winter soft wheat developed through individual selection from crosses of the varieties Odessa-51, Odessa-66, and Eritrospermum-121. The variety has been registered in Ukraine's plant registry since 2005 and is recommended for cultivation across the entire country, especially well-suited for the right-bank forest-steppe zone. Tronka is characterized by an early heading and maturing period, with a vegetative period of 265-280 days. The ear is large and long (12-14 cm), drooping, and of medium density, while the stem is hollow, medium thickness, and strong. The leaves are dark green, indicating good photosynthetic activity of the plant. The variety is distinguished by high yield and grain quality. The 1000-grain weight ranges from 50-60 g, the grain is large, oval-shaped, with a red color and medium groove. Tronka belongs to the group of strong wheats with gluten content of 30% and protein content of 14.2%. The flour strength varies from 450 to 661 arbitrary units, providing bread volume up to 1150 cm³ and a high overall bread rating — 9 points. These characteristics make the variety attractive for the bakery industry and production of high-quality flour. Tronka exhibits comprehensive resistance to major diseases of winter wheat, as well as high resistance to soil and air drought, lodging, and shattering. Plant height is 75-80 cm, contributing to resistance to lodging. The potential yield of the variety reaches 150 centners per hectare, with an average yield over three years in variety trials of 54 centners per hectare, which is 6.4 centners per hectare higher than the standard Fantazia. Maximum yields exceeding 100 centners per hectare were obtained in various regions of Ukraine, confirming the variety's high adaptability and production potential.
