SU Willem

The SU Willem wheat variety is a high-yielding, mid-late maturing, glumeless variety developed by Saaten Union (Germany) and registered in 2023. It is characterized by high yield stability and is adapted for cultivation in forest-steppe and Polissia climatic zones of Ukraine, especially in western and central-western regions. The variety exhibits rapid autumn development, making it suitable for late and very late sowing.

SU Willem possesses high ecological plasticity and resistance to various diseases. It demonstrates balanced resistance to powdery mildew, septoria, Fusarium head blight, as well as tolerance to root rots. Additionally, the variety is resistant to lodging and stem breakage, which contributes to yield retention. Plant height is 75-80 cm, and the 1000-seed mass ranges from 48-52 g, indicating large grain size and high grain quality.

In terms of quality, SU Willem features protein content at 13.5% and gluten content around 21-27%, ensuring good baking properties. The potential yield of the variety reaches 12.8 t/ha, making it attractive for cultivation even on less fertile soils. The recommended seeding rate depends on the sowing date and ranges from 3.5 to 4.5 million seeds per hectare. Due to its characteristics and adaptability, SU Willem is a reliable choice for farmers aiming to achieve high and stable wheat yields.
