Wheat Dzhamala

Genetic Profile and Stem Architecture

The "Dzhamala" wheat variety, developed by the Institute of Plant Physiology and Genetics of the NAS of Ukraine, is an intensive-type variety optimized for high-yield farming. The breeding focus was placed on balancing growth metrics with structural integrity. With a plant height of 100–120 cm, the variety provides an ideal surface area for photosynthesis while maintaining sufficient straw rigidity to prevent lodging, even under high nitrogen input scenarios.

Technical Advantages and Field Performance

• Disease Resistance: Dzhamala demonstrates significant tolerance to brown rust and powdery mildew. This genetic resistance is a crucial technical solution for preserving the leaf apparatus during the grain-filling stage.
• Yield Potential: The variety exhibits strong tillering capacity. The ear structure is designed to maximize grain filling, ensuring a stable harvest even when seeding rates are adjusted for varied climatic conditions.
• Grain Quality: This variety belongs to the 'strong wheat' category, consistently delivering high protein and gluten content. This consistency is essential for meeting the strict requirements of the milling and baking industries.

The technical engineering of the Dzhamala variety offers farmers a reliable tool for intensive agricultural management. The 100–120 cm height ensures robust vegetative development, maximizing biomass productivity without compromising ease of harvesting, which significantly reduces grain loss during combine operations.
