Osyayna

Winter wheat variety Osyayna is a high-yielding variety with high resistance to snow mold and lodging. This variety is characterized by enhanced frost and winter hardiness, as well as high drought tolerance, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in the forest-steppe and Polissia regions of Ukraine. The plant has a thick, strong stem, 61–103 cm tall, with medium-sized ears (8–10 cm) containing 43–67 grains, each with small awns at the tip. The grain is large and red, with a 1000-grain weight of 48.2–52.5 g. Yield potential of variety Osyayna reaches 12.0 t/ha, with protein content ranging from 14.2 to 16.0 %, and gluten content from 32.2 to 37.5 %. Milling and baking qualities of the variety are rated as good: flour strength is 350–380 units, loaf volume reaches 800–850 mm, and overall baking quality is in the range of 4.5–5.0 points. The variety responds well to nitrogen fertilization, which enhances yield and improves grain technological properties. Osyayna has moderate resistance to diseases such as powdery mildew, brown rust, and leaf septoria, increasing its reliability in various agroclimatic conditions. Due to its qualities and adaptability, this variety is recommended for intensive farming with mineral fertilizers, allowing for stable and high yields with excellent baking properties.
