Pilypivka — a semi-intensive winter soft wheat variety developed by the Selection-Genetic Institute of the National Center for Seed Science and Variety Evaluation in Odesa. This variety is characterized by moderate duration of the spring growth period and photoperiod sensitivity, heading and ripening 1-2 days earlier than the Odesa 267 variety. Pilypivka is most suitable for cultivation under standard technologies, especially on fields with weak preceding crops, and is less sensitive to sowing date shifts, whether early or late. Recommended for the steppe and forest-steppe zones of Ukraine. Plants of this variety reach a height of 110-120 cm, spike length is 9-10 cm, spike shape is spindle-shaped, spike color is white. Grain is oval, red in color, 1000-grain weight — 38-40.5 g. Pilypivka is characterized by high winter hardiness (9 points), resistance to major diseases (8 points), as well as high resistance to lodging, shattering, and germination of grain in the spike (7-9 points). Gluten content in grain is 28-30%, crude protein — 12.5-14.0%, ensuring high bread quality with a rating of 5 points. The variety responds well to mineral fertilizer application, especially on nutrient-poor soils, which enhances yield and grain quality. However, excessive nitrogen fertilization may cause lodging. Potential yield of Pilypivka is 72.4-80.9 c/ha, making it a strong and reliable variety for cultivation in the steppe and forest-steppe regions of Ukraine.
