Wheat ONIX

Onyx: The High-Yield Wheat Solution from the Donskoy Scientific Center

The Onyx wheat variety represents the technical excellence of the Donskoy Agrarian Scientific Center, targeting farmers who require intensive production models. Developed to maximize yield in variable environmental conditions, Onyx has established a reputation for reliability and structural strength, making it a preferred choice for large-scale operations focused on high-quality cereal output.

Agronomic Profile and Performance

Onyx is characterized by a stable plant height of 80–100 cm and excellent lodging resistance, ensuring that the crop remains standing even under high density (4.5–5.0 million productive stems per hectare). With a vegetative period of 110–120 days, it is optimized for efficient nutrient uptake and water usage. The variety's ability to produce large, high-weight grains (40–55g per 1000 seeds) ensures excellent test weight results, meeting the standards of both domestic and international markets.

Disease Resilience

A major focus in the development of Onyx was its genetic defense against major fungal threats. The variety provides robust protection against:

• Root rot;
• Yellow and brown rust (Puccinia triticina);
• Stalk smut.

This natural resilience helps reduce dependency on intensive fungicide programs. With a potential yield capacity of 8–10 tons per hectare, Onyx offers a compelling combination of input efficiency and output volume, securing its place as a top-tier asset for professional wheat production systems.
