OMSKAYA KREPOST is a medium-ripening variety of soft spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) with a vegetative period of 76 to 96 days, depending on growing conditions. The plant is characterized by medium height, an erect stem, and weak straw, which ensures resistance to lodging. The ear is pyramidal in shape, loose with medium density, white in color, and has medium-length awns. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 29.4 to 42 grams, indicating the large-grained nature of the variety. The grain is pigmented, and its quality meets the requirements for high-value wheat, with a protein content of about 14.1% and gluten up to 32%, ensuring good and excellent baking properties. The variety is distinguished by good drought resistance, especially during the initial growth phases, and a well-developed root system, which contributes to stable yield. Average yield in various regions reaches 36.5 c/ha, with maximum figures up to 79.6 c/ha, confirming the high productivity of the variety. Omskaya Krepost is recommended for reseeding destroyed winter crops and demonstrates resistance to major diseases, including powdery mildew and brown rust, as well as weak infection by septoria and scabby head in field conditions. The development of the variety is conducted using modern breeding methods and molecular-genetic research, which allows increasing resistance to diseases and improving grain quality. The Omsk Agrarian Science Center actively cooperates with leading scientific institutions of Russia for further improvement of the variety. Omskaya Krepost 2, being a continuation of breeding work, possesses high resistance to brown and stem rust and lodging, which makes this variety promising for wide application in the agricultural sector.
