LYGOVSKAYA 4

LYGOVSKAYA 4 is a variety of soft winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) of an intensive type, characterized by medium maturity and a short stem. The vegetative period ranges from 284 to 316 days, while plant height varies between 76–93 cm. The variety is noted for its high adaptability, enhanced winter hardiness and frost resistance, making it suitable for cultivation in various regions, including the Central, Central Black Earth, Middle Volga, and West Siberian regions. It is recommended to sow in the first decade of September at a seeding rate of 400–430 seeds per square meter on clean fallow and 440–460 on occupied fallow.

LYGOVSKAYA 4 exhibits high resistance to lodging and intensively tillers in spring, which contributes to the formation of a high yield — up to 105 centners per hectare. The mass of 1000 grains is 48.5 grams. The variety is resistant to a number of diseases, including septoria, bunt, powdery mildew, and fusarium, and shows moderate resistance to snow mold, loose smut, and brown rust. Thanks to these qualities, the variety ensures stable and high-quality grain.

To achieve maximum productivity, cultivation is recommended using intensive technology with nitrogen fertilizers applied at a rate of 80–100 kg/hectare of active substance. LYGOVSKAYA 4 is widely used in bread-making production, where it is valued as a good filler, confirming the high quality of the grain and its technological properties.
