Description MOSCOWSKAYA 56
MOSCOWSKAYA 56 is a soft winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) variety of the eritrospermum group, developed at the State Scientific Center of the North-Caucasian Branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Plant Breeding under the leadership of B.I. Sandukhadze. The variety is mid-maturing with a vegetative period ranging from 294 to 328 days, distinguished by high winter hardiness and lodging resistance. The plants are of medium height, approximately 100–105 cm, with a strong stem and good tillering, ensuring a large number of productive stems per 1 m². The mass of 1000 grains varies from 40 to 55 g, indicating the large-grained nature of the variety. Yield in the Central region reaches 32.2 c/ha, while potential yield can reach up to 117 c/ha with intensive cultivation technologies.

The variety exhibits high adaptability and plasticity, allowing for successful cultivation in the Central, Volga-Vyatka, and Central Black Earth regions. It is resistant to solid head smut, brown rust, powdery mildew, and snow mold, but susceptible to Septoria. Protection is recommended by seed dressing with a fungicide and insecticide, and one to two fungicide treatments during the growing season. The sowing rate is 450–500 viable seeds per square meter, with optimal sowing times depending on the region.

Baking qualities of the variety are good: protein content in the grain reaches 14.2%, raw gluten is about 30–38%, ensuring high flour strength and good bread yield. The variety is recommended for intensive technologies with nitrogen fertilizer application in the amount of 80–160 kg/ha of active substance to achieve maximum yield. MOSCOWSKAYA 56 is suitable for cultivation in the Central zone of Moscow Region, Tulskaya Oblast, and other regions with similar climatic conditions.
